LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz extended an invitation to US investors, encouraging them to explore the abundant investment opportunities available in the province.
This proposal came during her recent meeting with US Consul General Stetson Sanders, where she underlined Punjab’s promising economic potential and its capacity to emerge as a global investment hub. The discussion also focused on enhancing political and economic collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.
Expressing his appreciation for the warm reception, the US Consul General introduced the new US Political and Economic Officer. Both sides acknowledged the strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent US visit as a pivotal step in fortifying these ties and fostering deeper cooperation.
Highlighting Punjab’s cultural richness, the chief minister shared plans aimed at boosting cultural tourism by preserving and promoting the province’s historical heritage. She noted that Punjab’s diversity and historical importance, as one of the cradles of ancient civilization and religious culture, position it as a prime destination for global tourism.
On environmental matters, she highlighted the government’s dedication to combating cross-border smog. She pointed out significant improvements in the Air Quality Index (AQI), attributing this success to timely interventions and eco-friendly initiatives in Lahore and other cities.
The discussion also encompassed ongoing efforts to empower women through the Women Empowerment Project. Maryam Nawaz mentioned its remarkable success in uplifting women across the region while also emphasizing Punjab’s e-business initiatives, which are fostering a more investor-friendly atmosphere by streamlining operations.
Recognizing these advancements, the US Consul General commended the Punjab government’s efforts, particularly in facilitating investment through e-business reforms. He remarked on the evident progress being made, noting that investors are already benefiting from the efficiency and transformative changes across Punjab.
