CM Maryam Nawaz ends land grabbing in Punjab: Azma Bukhari

LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has lauded Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for taking historic steps to eliminate land grabbing across the province once and for all.

Addressing the media, Bukhari credited the Chief Minister’s firm leadership for dismantling land mafia networks and safeguarding the property rights of ordinary citizens, especially those from marginalized communities.

She pointed to the recently approved Property Ordinance as a milestone initiative, calling it a “turning point” in the government’s crackdown on illegal land occupation. The new law, she explained, closes every possible loophole that land grabbers once exploited and ensures that no individual can misuse the system for personal benefit.

Bukhari noted that land-related cases which previously lingered in courts for decades in some instances up to 40 years will now be settled within 90 days under the new ordinance. This, she said, marks a new era of quick and fair justice for the people of Punjab.

Highlighting the CM’s governance philosophy, Bukhari said Maryam Nawaz’s vision of “The State Will Be Like a Mother” focuses on protecting citizens’ rights, ensuring access to justice, and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups.

She added that the Punjab government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward all illegal activities, including land grabbing, public intimidation, and the display of weapons.

“Under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, Punjab is experiencing a new age of effective governance, transparency, and accelerated development, setting an example for other provinces to follow,” Bukhari concluded.
