LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday ordered the removal of the Managing Directors (MDs) of WASA in Kasur, Faisalabad and Okara over unsatisfactory sanitation conditions.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister to assess the progress of the “Suthra Punjab” cleanliness programme.
CM Maryam directed that the officials removed from their posts should not be given alternative assignments. She also expressed concern over poor cleanliness standards in several cities and ordered authorities to issue warning letters to other MDs whose performance was found unsatisfactory.
The meeting also approved measures to strengthen monitoring of sanitation services. Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs) will be equipped with body cameras to facilitate real-time monitoring of their activities.
The chief minister directed Deputy Commissioners to conduct daily supervision of FMOs and ordered the creation of a dedicated monitoring wing to oversee field operations.
Meanwhile, the meeting reviewed several measures aimed at improving cleanliness across Punjab.

Authorities were given 15 days to complete the province-wide implementation of the door-to-door garbage collection system.
Suthra Punjab Beat System:
Officials were directed to ensure the full activation of the “Suthra Punjab Beat System” throughout the province.
