Shanghai: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has visited Huawei Technologies in the Longgang district of Shanghai.
During the visit, it was decided, in collaboration with Huawei, to transform Lahore into Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art smart city.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif invited Huawei to invest in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab and Huawei assured its full cooperation in setting up an assembly and manufacturing plant in the province.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister discussed various proposals and recommendations with Huawei’s President of Government Affairs Mr. Wang Chengdong, or turning Lahore into a modern digital city.
The meeting discussed e-commerce, ecosystem production, and the digitization of the health and education sectors.
The Chief Minister expressed interest in Huawei’s health and education sector projects and shared information about Punjab’s Safe City Project.
Mr. Wang Chengdong provided a detailed briefing on Huawei’s ongoing projects in Pakistan, especially in Punjab.
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed keen interest in Huawei’s projects in the health and education sectors and highlighted the Safe City Project in various cities of Punjab.
She emphasized implementing the vision of a “Digital Punjab” in partnership with Huawei.”We aim to benefit from Huawei’s expertise in telecommunications, electronics, and digitalization,” she stated.
The CM highlighted the need for Huawei’s support in capacity building and IT research at Punjab’s first fully AI-based university, along with introducing Punjab’s youth to cutting-edge digital technologies.
Huawei was invited to assist in ecosystem development and to continue its contribution to Punjab’s technological advancements.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif also visited Huawei’s factory and reviewed various departments during her visit.
