NANKANA SAHIB: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday visited flood-affected areas in Nankana Sahib to assess the damage and review rehabilitation efforts for those affected by recent heavy rains and flooding.
During her visit, the chief minister inspected relief operations and met the residents to hear their concerns.Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that the provincial government will compensate the loss of crops and livestock due to flood water.
She said that financial assistance will also be provided to the owners, whose mud houses collapsed due to flood water.Chairing the meeting, Maryam Nawaz sought a plan for city’s beautification and ordered the fund release for this project.
Moreover, she announced an increase in the number of electric buses allocated to the district.She further called for an increase in the number of ‘Clinics on Wheels’ and expanded the beneficiaries of the Himmat Card program in Nankana Sahib.
A briefing during her visit revealed that overflow from streams and canals had submerged 1,525 acres of land, affecting 22 villages.
Maryam Nawaz assured that compensation would be provided for crops and livestock on emergency basis.
