ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that Army Chief General Asim Munir informed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about the meeting and discussions with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar.
In his statement, Khawaja Asif mentioned that Barrister Gohar initially gave one statement about his meeting with the Army Chief, and later issued another. He clarified that there was no political discussion between Barrister Gohar and the Army Chief.
He further said that the Prime Minister is aware of the meeting between Barrister Gohar and the Army Chief, and that the Army Chief informed the Prime Minister about the meeting with Barrister Gohar.
Khawaja Asif added that what was discussed with Barrister Gohar has been communicated by the Army Chief to the Prime Minister.
It is noteworthy that on January 16, PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan confirmed that Barrister Gohar met the Army Chief in Peshawar. Previously, Barrister Gohar had repeatedly denied such a meeting with the Army Chief.
