Rawalpindi (February, 2018): Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday announced that tribal from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) will no longer require Watan cards for payment of compensation to Temporarily Displaced People (TDP) and can use the national identity cards instead.
“The Watan Cards are no more required for getting compensation and effected people can use CNIC,” DG ISPR said adding that those without CNIC can use Watan Cards till May 31.
COAS directs for facilitation to Tribal brethren in FATA. Watan Cards earlier issued as ID document for payment of compensation to TDPs no more required. Henceforth CNIC will be taken as ID document. Those without CNIC can use Watan Card till 31 May 18 and obtain CNIC by then.

He also mentioned that army chief has also directed full cooperation with tribal people to solve their problems.
TDPs from the tribal areas, who had migrated at the start of military operations in the region, were issued Watan cards to facilitate the dispersal of compensation amount promised by the government and also to provide a valid identification document.
