ISLAMABAD: A cockroach was reportedly found in the meal provided to members of the National Assembly in the parliamentary cafeteria on Tuesday.
The incident occurred during a session attended by women members of parliament. Pakistan People’s Party MNA Dr. Shahida Rehmani confirmed the occurrence. Additionally, MNA Naeema Kishwar highlighted that such incidents are not new, mentioning that cockroaches have been discovered in meals on previous occasions.
Parliamentarians voiced their strong displeasure over these hygienic lapses. Naeema Kishwar emphasized, “We are raising concerns about the unsanitary conditions of the food served, yet we are also being served unhygienic meals ourselves.”
In response, Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq assured the assembly that an unbiased investigation would be launched promptly to address the matter.
