LAHORE: Today marks the ninth anniversary of the passing of legendary playback singer A Nayyar.
Born as Arthur Nayyar in 1950 in Sahiwal, he embarked on his musical journey in 1974 with Pakistan Television’s program ‘Naye Funkar’. Over the years, he lent his voice to numerous films as a talented playback singer.
Throughout his illustrious career, A Nayyar recorded over 4,000 songs, with hits like ‘Ek Baat Kaho Dildara’, ‘Chand Tare Ghata’, ‘Phul Shabnam Saba’, ‘Pyaar To Ek Din Hona Tha’, and ‘Jungle Mein Mangal Tere Hi Dum Se’ gaining widespread popularity. His exceptional talent earned him the Nigar Award five times.
A Nayyar passed away on this day in 2016 in Lahore, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the Pakistani music industry.
