ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan says the government is committed to the development of Gilgit-Baltistan and a historic package has been approved for this purpose.

Addressing a meeting in Islamabad to further improve communication facilities in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said the package will open a new era of development in the region.

He said the increase in funds allocated by the government to improve connectivity in Gilgit-Baltistan as compared to the past is a testament to its commitment and attention towards the area.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Information Technology, SCO and PTA to continue their efforts for improved communication facilities in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the availability of 3G and 4G services in the region is essential for skill development of youth of Gilgit-Baltistan and for the promotion of tourism in the region.
