Condolences Pour In For Begum Kulsoom Nawaz

Karachi (September 12, 2018): Renowned political, social personalities and world leaders have expressed heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of the former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, who passed away at London’s Harley Street Clinic after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Malala Expresses GriefMalala Yousafzai, the Pakistani Nobel laureate and education activist, expressed her condolences to the Sharif family over the demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Malala said that she is saddened to hear about the demise of the former First Lady of Pakistan.

“Heartfelt condolences to all her family and prayers for the departed soul. Her political struggle and courage will be remembered,” she tweeted.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra ModiIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound grief over the demise of former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who passed away earlier in the day after battling cancer for over a year.

“It is with profound grief that I learnt of the sad demise of Begum Sahiba,” Modi said in a letter written to former premier and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

The Indian premier conveyed his deepest condolences to the Sharif family.

“I pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to Begum Sahiba and strength to you and the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss,” the letter read further. “I would always cherish memories of my interaction with her.”

Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma SwarajIndian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj also conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the Sharif family in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

 “I am sorry to know about the sad demise of Mrs. Kulsoom Nawaz,” she said. “My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May her soul rest in peace.”

PPP Leader Aitzaz AhsanPakistan Peoples Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan has apologized for hurting the sentiments of the Sharif family over his previous comments about Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s treatment.

“I am saddened at the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz,” Aitzaz Ahsan said and added that he regrets his remarks about her health.

The PPP senator said the demise of the former first lady was a huge loss for the Sharif family and that she had rendered valuable services for democracy.
