ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) Usman Yusuf Mobeen appeared before Islamabad High Court as ordered by the court in a contempt of court petition for not implementing an order issued in 2010. In the 2010 judgment the court had ordered giving FIA and police access to bio-metric system to access revenue record.
The contempt of court petition was filed in 2016.
It may be mentioned here that Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi issued the non-bailable warrant of Chairman NADRA on March 1 in a contempt of court petition for not implementing an order issued in 2010. In the 2010 judgment the court had ordered NADRA giving FIA and police access to bio-metric system to access revenue record. The order of the court remained unimplemented.
The court had also ordered that Chairman NADRA be produced before it by March 3 (today).
Chairman NADRA assured the court that the order issued by the court would be implemented.
He also assured the court tat NADRA will provide all the technical gadgets required for bio-metric verification and that entire Islamabad would be transferred to the bio-metric identification system.
