Karachi: Increase in deaths of coronavirus patients is being witnessed as the third wave of the virus played havoc across the country while 5,499 cases reported around the country in the last 24 hours.

According to National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), as many as 148 patients including 58 people ventilators passed away in the last 24 hours after which tally of total deaths stood at 16, 600 person.

88 percent ventilators are in use Gunjranwala, 85 percent in Lahore and Multan while 91 percent ventilators are in use in Mardan. On the other hand as many as 522 patients are on ventilators across the country. 85 percent oxygen beds are in use in Gunjranwala.

As per the NCOC, in the last 24 hours 47, 301 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in which 5, 499 were positive cases while rate of positive cases have reached to 11, 62 percent.

There are 83, 162 cases are active in the country. According to government statistics as many as 5, 488 people recovered from the virus after which the number of recovered cases have reached 672, 619.

The rate of recovered person remained 87, 1 percent while 4,000 people are in critical condition.
