Islamabad: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday that the Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif for not ‘receiving 10 thousand Dirham but the country suffered $14 billion loss in the aftermath of the Panama verdict.
Talking to media during his visit of Sasta Bazaar at Peshawar where a fire had gutted over 1000 stalls a few days ago, the Minister said that they respect Supreme Court verdict in Panama case but the country suffered losses in its aftermath.
Criticising political opponents, he said that fanning political instability and doing politics for the sake of it will inevitably result in hampering economic development in the country.
He underlined the need to get united and move forward beyond “dead issues” like DawnLeaks, inquiry of which has been completed with the consensus of civil and military leadership.
Ensuring provision of relief by the government to the affected shopkeepers, Iqbal said that the incident would have caused even more damage had there not been safe city projects.
He also said that he will request the prime minister to provide help to the affectees.
