ISLAMABAD: The District and Session Courts Islamabad conducted hearings related to FIRs filed against PTI workers for their participation in protests held on November 26.
No lawyers appeared in the PTI workers’ cases on behalf of the party, prompting the court to appoint a State Counsel to represent the government in two of the cases.
Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shehzad Gondal presided the hearing.
In protest case No. 976, Advocate Kifayat Ullah was appointed as the State Counsel, who successfully completed cross-examination of six prosecution witnesses. The upcoming hearing will see the cross-examination of the Investigating Officer and the Assistant Commissioner.
The court rejected the request for acquittal submitted by accused Osman Ali. The prosecution, represented by Special Public Prosecutor Muhammad Usman Rana, stated that recovery had been made from the accused and that a proper identification parade had been conducted.
Court dismissed Usman Ali’s plea and instructed him to appear for cross-examination in the next session.
Both cases have been adjourned until June 2. Additionally, two FIRs have been registered against PTI workers at Ramna Police Station under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act.
