Lahore: An accountability court of Lahore on Thursday granted PML-N leader Khawaja Asif exemption from attendance in the court.
The assets case was heard in the accountability court in Lahore in which PML-N leader Khawaja Asif appeared. Khawaja Asif’s lawyers filed an application for exemption from appearing in court till the reference was filed.
The lawyer said that a reference against former defense minister Khawaja Asif has not been filed yet and in the past, a request for exemption from attendance in such a situation has been granted.
Judge of the Accountability Court Sheikh Sajjad Ahmed while giving remarks said that I am not bound by other accountability courts but you should show it in the light of the decisions of the High Court or the Supreme Court.
Opposing the exemption from attendance of Khawaja Asif till the reference is filed. The NAB prosecutor said that according to the law, Khawaja Asif is bound to appear in court on every date.
The NAB prosecutor took the position that Khawaja is bound to appear before the court unless the court issues an order.
The court granted Khawaj Asif exemption from attendance.
