LAHORE: Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore has granted a one-day exemption from appearance to former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a case related to alleged illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.
During the hearing on Wednesday, Elahi’s lawyer, Amir Saeed Ran, argued before the court that his client was unwell and that doctors had advised complete rest, therefore, a request for a one-day exemption from appearance was made. After hearing the arguments, the court approved the request.
During the hearing, other co-defendants, including Muhammad Khan Bhatti, were present in court and completed their attendance. The court granted the co-defendants time to appoint lawyers and adjourned further proceedings in the case.
The judge remarked that the co-defendants should submit their power of attorney at the next hearing, after which a date for the case will be scheduled. The Anti-Corruption Lahore had already submitted the case challan in court.
