LAHORE: An accountability court on Saturday issued warrant for arrest of former premier and PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf for non-appearance in the court in a case relating to illegal appointments in Gujranwala Electric Power Supply Company (GEPCO).
A local accountability court heard the reference against the former premier for misuse of authority and illegal appointments in GEPCO.
Asharaf did not appear before the court. His counsel told the court that his client could not appear before the court as he was out of the country in connection with some private engagements.
Upon this the court expressed its anger and issued arrest warrant of the former premier and ordered him to appear before the court on April 19, 2017.
