HYDERABAD: A local court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 27 doctors and administrative officials of Hyderabad Civil Hospital in connection with the death of a 17-year-old dengue patient last year.
The court directed police to arrest all the nominated accused and present them before it at the next hearing, scheduled for October 27, after they failed to appear during proceedings.
The case relates to the death of Hasnain Aamir, who died while undergoing treatment for dengue at Civil Hospital Hyderabad.
A case was registered at Market Police Station last year following a complaint by the teenager’s father, Aamir Latif, who accused the hospital administration of negligence and inadequate care during his son’s treatment.
The father had initially approached the court seeking legal action against those responsible for the alleged negligence.
Subsequently, a case was registered against the hospital’s doctors under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with punishment for murder.
The latest court order directs authorities to ensure the appearance of all 27 accused in the case.
