Court issues summons for Parvez Elahi in illegal recruitment case

LAHORE: In a significant development related to the allegations of unlawful recruitment practices within the Punjab Assembly, an anti-corruption court in Lahore has decided to proceed with the indictment of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and other accused individuals. The court has summoned the accused for formal charges on November 6.

The court also directed that arguments be presented on the requests for acquittal filed by some of Elahi’s co-accused persons. In the written order issued by Judge Javed Iqbal Warraich, it was noted that the prosecution opposed Elahi’s plea for a one-day exemption from appearing in court, citing that the former CM had also failed to attend the previous hearing.

Additionally, the order mentioned that the indictment process in this case has yet to be formally initiated, and the court will consider the matter further during the next proceedings.
