KARACHI: An Accountability Court on Saturday ordered authorities to continue the process to declare former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon as absconder in the Rs5 billion corruption case.
The court adjourned the haring of the reference till March 7 on the plea of accused counsel.
The court heard the case of Rs5 billion corruption in Information department. Sharjeel Memon’s counsel told the court that his client bail plea was fixed for hearing yesterday but he did not know what order the court issued on the petition.
The NAB prosecutor submitted that protective bail was given for short and specific period while the accused was shying away from appearing before the court by getting his bail extended through the country.
He pleaded the court to order continuing the process of declaring the accused a absconder. The court while accepting the plea of the prosecutor ordered to continue the process to declare Memon as absconder.
