Islamabad: It has been decided to crack down against people who are involved in propagating anti-Pakistan propaganda on social media.
A joint team at federal and provincial levels including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber crime wing teams will be formed.
The teams will be given authority as per the law for arrest and investigation while the teams will be given coordination of the country’s institutions.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort by the government to tackle the growing problem of fake news and disruptive social media campaigns targeting state institutions.
The authorities have emphasised that no tolerance will be shown for activities that undermine the integrity and security of the state. Further legal proceedings are expected to follow soon.
