Cricket Wins in Pakistan! Sri Lankan Team Confirms Tour Will Go On

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi announced on Thursday that Field Marshal Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has committed to providing full security for the Sri Lankan cricket team.

In a related update, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that Sri Lanka has assured Pakistan of its complete support in combating terrorism. Naqvi noted that this security assurance was personally conveyed to Sri Lankan officials to address their concerns regarding the team’s safety during their ongoing tour of Pakistan. He further mentioned that the Sri Lankan President had reached out directly, and both nations engaged in detailed discussions concerning security protocols.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman highlighted that Sri Lankan officials had initially raised concerns following recent incidents. However, Pakistan’s leadership, including the army chief, has pledged comprehensive safety measures for the visiting players and their delegation.

Naqvi commended the Sri Lankan government’s decision to proceed with the cricket tour, describing it as a significant testament to their courage and trust in Pakistan. He also pointed out that investigations into recent terrorist activities in Islamabad revealed links connected to Afghanistan.

During a session in the Senate, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar informed members that Sri Lanka had reiterated its full support for Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts. The Senate unanimously adopted a resolution presented by the law minister, acknowledging and appreciating Sri Lanka’s decision to continue with the tour. The resolution characterized this move as an act of bravery and solidarity with Pakistan.

Interior Minister Naqvi expressed his gratitude to the Senate for passing the resolution, stating that it symbolizes the deep friendship and mutual respect shared by both nations.
