Karachi (November 17, 2017): Counter Terrorism Department has claimed to arrest main accused of deadly suicide attack on Lal Shahbaz Qalander’s shrine in Sehwan.

According to the details, Authorities claimed on Friday to have arrested a suspect in connection with the deadly Sehwan suicide blast.

Sources said that the suspect was arrested from a remote area of Karachi.

The CTD team has informed about the major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the deadly blast that killed dozens of devotees.

During a press conference today, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) DIG Aamir Farooqi said the suspect was held in a coordinated raid with Sindh Rangers.

Giving details, Farooqi said Nadir Jakhrani alias Murshid was arrested in Manghopir area of the metropolis. He informed that the planning of the Sehwan attack took place at Dera Murad Jamali — a city located in Nasirabad District in Balochistan.

He added that all the people of the group involved in the attack have been identified by the police officials and are either dead or on the run.

The officer said that Daesh’s Sindh chief has been killed by the law enforcement agencies as well.

He said that there are clear-cut indications of “foreign hands” behind terror incidents in the country, including the Sehwan blast.

Farooqi said that the suicide bomber in the attack came from Afghanistan.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was informed about the suspect’s arrest by Inspector General A D Khawaja and Additional IG CTD. The chief minister lauded the performance of police officials in arresting the suspect.

The CTD officials are expected to formally announce the arrest of the suspects and other details in a press conference today.On February 17, at least 88 people were martyred when a suicide bomber attacked the crowded Sufi shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, injuring up to 343 others.

The powerful blast took place inside the premises of the shrine as a dhamaal was taking place.

Terrorist organisation Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack. The suspect is said to be affiliated with a number of other proscribed organizations before joining Daesh.
