Peshawar: A Peshawar district and sessions court has sentenced the prime accused Mujahid Ullah in the Asma Rani murder case to death.
Asma Rani, a third-year medical student, was shot dead in Kohat in January 2018 for refusing a marriage proposal. She was taken to a nearby hospital after being shot thrice.
On Friday, a district and sessions judge conducted the hearing in the Peshawar Central Jail.
Judge of special court, Ashfaq Taj sentenced Mujahidullah to death and acquitted two other accused after finding no evidences against them over conclusion of arguments of both sides counsels.
Earlier, a few days ago the court had reserved the verdict which announced today in the presence of Asma Rani parents and relatives.
The parents of Asma Rani have declared the court verdict historic and based on justice.
The case was shifted to Peshawar from Kohat due to security concerns.
