CWC 19: India Top Order Collapses Against New Zealand in First Semi-Final

Manchester: India’s top order collapsed against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019 as the Men in Blue lost four wickets on 24 runs.

The Kiwis picked up the wickets of World top two batsmen — Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli —  in the first three overs with beautiful deliveries before cheap dismissal of KL Rahul.

After losing the first three wickets on a total of five runs on the board, Jimmy Neesham pulled off a zinger of a catch off Matt Henry bowling to send back Dinesh Karthik to the pavilion.

New Zealand today set a target of 240 runs in front of India to win the ICC world cup semi-finals after resuming on their overnight 211-5 score off 46.1 overs.

New Zealand managed to add just 29 runs in their overnight score.

India’s World Cup semi-final clash against New Zealand at Old Trafford stadium was interrupted by rain in Manchester on Tuesday and the match has spilled on to Wednesday.

Ross Taylor was 67 not out and Tom Latham was at 3 when the play was stopped. The skipper Kane Williamson played fighting innings of 67 runs off 95 balls.

If the match is not completed on Wednesday (reserve day), India will qualify for the final on the basis of more points (15) than New Zealand (11) in the league stage.
