Dar calls on Afghan authorities to take action Against TTP, BLA

KABUL: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has urged Afghan officials to implement tangible and verifiable measures to counter terrorist groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA)/Majeed Brigade.

Speaking during a bilateral meeting with Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi on the sidelines of the 6th Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Summit involving Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan, in Kabul, Dar emphasized the recent rise in terrorist incidents within Pakistan, many of which are believed to be facilitated from Afghan territory.

Dar highlighted the need for concrete steps from Afghanistan to dismantle these groups, stressing the importance of security cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts. While acknowledging some progress in political and commercial relations, he noted that security cooperation, especially regarding terrorism, still requires significant improvement.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the overall positive trend in their bilateral ties, as per a statement from the Pakistani Foreign Office. They also welcomed the recent upgrade of diplomatic representation from Chargé d’Affaires to Ambassadorial level, a move agreed upon during the Beijing trilateral meeting on May 21, 2025.

Reflecting on recent engagements—including Dar’s visits to Kabul on April 19 and July 17, and the Beijing summit—the ministers observed that most decisions arising from these interactions are either being implemented or are close to completion. These initiatives have contributed to strengthening Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, particularly in areas of trade and transit.

The Afghan acting foreign minister reaffirmed Kabul’s commitment to ensuring its territory is not used by any terrorist organization against Pakistan or other nations. Dar expressed gratitude for Afghan hospitality and congratulated the country on successfully hosting the 6th Trilateral Dialogue
