Dar engages Saudi, Egyptian counterparts on Gaza crisis; reaffirms support for ceasefire,humanitarian relief

ISLAMABAD:  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with his Saudi and Egyptian counterparts to discuss the evolving humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong backing for Arab-Islamic efforts to secure a ceasefire and deliver aid to the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Dialogue with Egyptian Foreign Minister Focuses on Regional Diplomacy

In his call with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and commended Cairo’s diplomatic initiatives to help de-escalate tensions and open humanitarian corridors.

The two ministers exchanged views on ongoing consultations among Arab and Islamic nations in New York, aimed at mobilizing global pressure for a lasting ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of urgent assistance to Gaza’s civilian population.

Dar extended a formal invitation for Dr. Abdelatty to visit Islamabad, which the Egyptian minister accepted. Both sides committed to enhancing coordination in regional diplomacy for a just and sustainable peace in the Middle East.

Talks with Saudi FM Emphasize Unified Diplomatic Push

In a separate conversation, Dar spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The two discussed recent multilateral meetings involving Arab-Islamic representatives and the United States, including strategies for advancing a ceasefire and scaling up humanitarian aid operations in Gaza.

Dar praised Saudi Arabia’s leadership in regional peace efforts and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to collaborative diplomacy rooted in justice and accountability.

The ministers also exchanged views on Hamas’s latest response to U.S. peace efforts, considering it a potential opening toward reducing violence. They emphasized the urgency of pursuing a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
