Web Desk: The 8th death anniversary of popular Pakistani singer-turned-religious scholar and Na’at Khwan, Junaid Jamshed is being observed on Saturday.
Junaid Jamshed was born on September 3, 1964 in Karachi.
He graduated in mechanical engineering in 1990 and joined Paf as a civilian contractor and moved on to a short-lived career in aeronautical engineering.
Junaid formed a pop music band vital signs and had also led it as lead vocalist.
Vital signs gained immense worldwide popularity during the 90s, with their songs like Aitebaar, Goray Rang Ka Zamana, Dil Dil Pakistan and Sanwali Saloni.
In 2003, BBC world service conducted an unscientific poll to choose ten most famous songs of all time.
Around 7000 songs were selected from all over the world.
According to BBC, people from 155 countries/territories voted in the poll. “Dil Dil Pakistan” was ranked third among the top 10 songs.
At the peak of his successful career of 15 years, Junaid quit the music industry in 2004 to reconnect to his Islamic faith.
Government of Pakistan also awarded him Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

His soulful performances, such as “Dil Badal De,” earned him widespread recognition as a spiritual guide.
His son, Babar Junaid, frequently reflects on his father’s strong faith and his dedication to inspiring others.
In recognition of his contributions, the Pakistani government awarded him the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2007.
Junaid Jamshed – 52 – died on December 7, 2016 along with his wife and 45 others in a horrible crash of Pakistan international Airlines Flight Pk-661 near Havelian.
