Web Desk: Third death anniversary of renowned philanthropist Bilquis Edhi is being observed today.
She breathed her last in Karachi after suffering from cardiovascular disease on April 15, 2022.
A nurse by profession, Bilquis Bano Edhi had spent more than six decades of her life serving humanity in need.
She headed one of the world’s largest charity organizations after the passing of his husband Abdul Sattar Edhi in 2016.
Under her dynamic patronage, the Edhi Foundation saved thousands of unwanted babies.
Apart from providing the world’s largest ambulance service, her charity operates a large number of free nursing homes, orphanages, clinics, women’s shelters and food kitchens.
For her unparalleled humanitarian work, Bilquis Edhi was declared the ‘most impactful person’ of first two decades of this century by the impact hallmarks.
Bilquis had been awarded national and foreign awards including, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the Lenin Peace Prize and mother teresa Memorial International Award For Social Justice.
Like her husband, Bilquis made sure she would leave behind an institution which would serve humanity even after her death – a way to live beyond life.
