NEW YORK: Pakistan has demanded for prioritizing the issue of terrorism originating from Afghanistan in the United Nations Security Council, stating that terrorists were given planning and instructions for the Jaffar Express attack from Afghanistan.
According to the details, during a speech at a United Nations Security Council meeting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram stated that during the Jaffar Express attack, the terrorists were in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan, and they were given instructions for the attack from Afghanistan.
The Pakistani permanent representative stated that the Taliban government has not played an effective role in combating ISIS, and that the banned TTP, BLA, and Majid Brigade are involved in cross-border attacks.
He mentioned that, we have evidence that this attack was orchestrated by our enemy through Afghan proxies, and the train attack, among other acts of terrorism, is intended to obstruct Pakistan-China cooperation and the CPEC. Those responsible for terrorism, including the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors, must be held accountable.
Munir Akram stated that the terrorism emanating from Afghanistan should be prioritized as a significant issue, and the Security Council should actively cooperate with Pakistan in combating terrorism, while also ensuring the implementation of its decisions against terrorism.
The Pakistani permanent representative further emphasized that the terrorist organizations present in Afghanistan pose a serious threat to regional and global peace. The resolution adopted by the Security Council has called for the Taliban government to take effective measures against terrorism; however, the resolution also extended the mandate of the UN aid mission for Afghanistan by one year.
