ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani on Tuesday said that democracy and provincial autonomy was the only way forward for the country, saying that it is need of the hours now to challenges anti-people and constitution actions.’
Addressing a seminar in Islamabad about electoral reforms, the Senate Chairman said that there was a need to convince people that change will come only through vote.
Rabbani said in the past Election Commission of Pakistan deviated from its constitutional duties. He said that it was unfortunate when ECP looked toward Army and judiciary for discharging its duties.
He opined that no matter how strong the laws are, these would be of no use if not implemented properly and fully.
He said that Parliament’s special committee was working on electoral reforms for the last two years. He said that Parliament needed to reassures the people it was representing them.
