Washington Democratic Muslim Representative Ilhan Omar won reelection in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.
Omar, who was one of the few “Squad” members in Congress defeated her Republican challenger, Dalia Al-Aqidi, in the heavily-Democrat district.
This will be Omar’s third term representing Minnesota in the House of Representatives.
The race featured another member of the so-called “Squad” facing off with a primary challenger, with Don Samuels, Abena McKenzie and Nate Schluter looking to make Omar the third member of the progressive group to lose a primary challenge in this cycle.
