Depression forms over Arabian Sea, moves Eastward

KARACHI: The low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea has intensified into a depression and is moving towards the east.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, this system is currently located approximately 1058 kilometers southeast of Karachi and is progressing eastward. After passing by the Indian coast, it is expected to weaken.

The Meteorological Department has stated that there is no immediate threat to any coastal areas of Pakistan from this system.

However, due to the influence of this system, a heatwave was anticipated in Karachi and Sindh, which will subside once the system weakens. The passing of this system will also restore sea breezes in the region.

Meanwhile, most districts of Karachi and Sindh are expected to experience extremely hot and dry weather.

Islamabad and surrounding areas are forecasted to see thunderstorms accompanied by rain. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to remain hot and dry overall, though some areas like Chitral, Dera, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, and Kohistan may experience thunderstorms with scattered rainfall.

Most parts of Punjab are also expected to remain hot and dry; however, regions such as Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Hafizabad may witness heavy showers or hailstorms.

Similarly, Balochistan is likely to experience hot and dry weather generally, with some areas like Barakhan, Khuzdar, Larkana, and surrounding regions potentially receiving isolated rainfall.

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, overcast skies, strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain are expected.
