RAWALPINDI: The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has issued a sharp response to recent remarks by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi regarding Operation Sindoor. General Dwivedi had characterized the four-day military engagement in May between India and Pakistan as merely a “trailer,” implying that the main action was yet to come.
In his statement, General Dwivedi commented that Operation Sindoor was just the beginning, saying, “The movie had not even started. We only showed them a trailer, which lasted 88 hours.”
Addressing this, the DG ISPR criticized the statement, calling it reflective of a “delusional mindset.” Speaking to senior journalists, Lieutenant General Chaudhry reiterated the outcomes of the confrontation in May, emphasizing that during this “trailer,” Pakistan managed to shoot down seven Indian fighter jets, target 26 military sites, and destroy their advanced S-400 missile system.
He questioned whether the Indian Army Chief truly wished to witness what he described as the “full horror movie,” suggesting that such provocative rhetoric might serve as an attempt to disguise India’s military losses and reframe them in a more favorable light for domestic consumption.
The DG ISPR further noted that these statements seem aimed at stoking nationalist sentiment within India. However, he affirmed that such narratives fail to cover the operational challenges and setbacks experienced by the Indian military during the confrontation.
