(DGMOs) of Pakistan and India will hold their next dialogue on May 18

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India will hold their next dialogue on May 18 (Sunday) to explore prospects for peace.

The military representatives of both nations had a third hotline discussion on Thursday, emphasizing ongoing communication.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Dar stated that, the dialogue process, set to take place at a neutral venue, will commence once both armies have restored their normal positions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance, noting that India initiated hostilities and Pakistan responded effectively by intercepting attacking jets.

Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s patience was tested when India targeted Nur Khan Airbase and other strategic installations on May 9. He also clarified that, according to US confirmation, no Pakistani F-16 jets were shot down during the conflict.

Additionally, Dar, who also serves as Pakistan’s foreign minister, mentioned that Pakistan received a call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on May 10, indicating India’s willingness to pursue a ceasefire. He also noted communications with the Saudi foreign minister, indicating regional diplomatic engagement.

DGMOs Commit to Peace Efforts
The DGMOs of Pakistan and India, Maj Gen Kashif Abdullah and Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai respectively, agreed during Thursday’s hotline contact to advance the peace process, following the US-brokered ceasefire. Both military officials expressed their commitment to de-escalation and dialogue to reduce tensions between the two countries.
