KARACHI: Nursing students affiliated with Dow University of Health Sciences staged a protest on Tuesday against the Semester-4 retake examinations, disrupting traffic on the main road near the university and Civil Hospital.
The protesting students expressed concern over the high number of failures, particularly in English Literature, and called for a review of the examination process.
According to the students, around 1,900 candidates appeared in the examination, with nearly 1,400 reportedly failing in a single subject.
The students demanded that the existing retake examination schedule be cancelled or postponed, allowing them additional time to prepare.
They also called for an extension in the deadline for submission of examination fee vouchers and sought a reduction in retake examination fees, which they described as an additional financial burden.
Meanwhile, Dow University spokesperson Naeem Tahir said the protest was being staged by students who had failed the examination. He regretted that outsiders were also participating in the demonstration.
Tahir said the university was investigating the cases of students who failed the examination.
