LAHORE: Senior PTI leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid was admitted to Services Hospital on Tuesday following a sudden decline in her health while in detention.
Her legal representative, Rana Mudsar, stated that Dr. Rashid was taken to the emergency department after experiencing severe breathing difficulties and intense abdominal pain. Medical staff at the hospital are currently observing her condition closely.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid has been in custody since May 12, 2023, after her arrest under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) in connection with the incidents that occurred on May 9. Although the Lahore High Court ordered her release on May 13, she was re-arrested within hours on three additional cases related to the same events, including the high-profile attack on Jinnah House.
Despite ongoing legal efforts advocating for her release, Dr. Rashid remains incarcerated and faces multiple legal proceedings.
Supporters of PTI and human rights organizations have raised serious concerns about her health and the lack of prompt medical care during her detention. They are demanding better treatment and urgent humanitarian intervention.
No official statement has yet been issued by prison authorities regarding her current health status.
