DUBAI: A suspected Iranian drone struck a parking area near the US Consulate in Dubai, sparking a fire and sending plumes of black smoke into the sky, US and local officials confirmed.
US authorities stated that all diplomatic personnel at the consulate are safe, and no injuries were reported. The incident comes amid a series of Iranian drone and missile attacks in response to ongoing US–Israeli military actions targeting Tehran.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the drone struck a parking lot adjacent to the consulate’s chancellery building, igniting a fire near the diplomatic compound. “A drone, unfortunately, hit a parking area next to the chancellery and caused a fire,” he told reporters in Washington, D.C.
Dubai authorities confirmed that the fire was quickly contained. According to the Dubai Media Office, emergency response teams acted promptly, and the blaze was fully extinguished within approximately 45 minutes. No casualties were reported.
Officials in Dubai emphasized their ongoing commitment to public safety and security, while US officials reassured that all consulate staff were accounted for. The incident highlights rising tensions in the Middle East as Iran expands its retaliatory campaign.
