Earth Hour to be observed today

ISLAMABAD: Earth Hour will be observed across the globe today and people around the world are asked to turn off the lights for one hour to mark the event.  

Pakistan also joins the world community today in observing Earth Hour from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. A ceremony will be held at the Parliament House, Islamabad at eight tonight in connection with Earth Hour. The observance of the Earth Hour is particularly important for Pakistan in the backdrop of need for energy conservation and environmental protection.

Karachiites will observe the Earth Hour at Frere Hall here today. The theme for the current year is “Shine a light on climate change”. The day is being observed by the WWF-Pakistan in collaboration with Engro Foundation.

Actors, models and directors including Adnan Malik, Anoushey Ashraf and Khalid Malik will participate in the event as ambassadors of the Earth Hour.

Candles-light to be held to observe the Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. by switching off unnecessary lights as a symbolic gesture to show commitment for the earth.
