KARACHI: A powerful earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck multiple regions in Balochistan and Sindh, causing widespread panic among residents.
The seismic activity was felt in cities such as Khuzdar, Nasirabad, Jhal Magsi, Usta Mohammad, and Dera Murad Jamali. The centre reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 86 kilometers northeast of Khuzdar.
In Sindh, the tremors were experienced in Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Naushahro Feroze, as well as in Kandiaro, Halani, and Mehrabpur. The seismic event lasted roughly 10 to 15 seconds. No immediate reports of casualties or structural damage have been received.
Earlier in December 2025, Karachi and surrounding areas experienced a 5.2 magnitude quake, with the tremors felt at a depth of 12 kilometers. According to the Seismological Centre, the quake was felt across several parts of the city at around 12:51 a.m.
Residents in areas including SITE, Saddar, Clifton, DHA Phase 8, and PECHS reported feeling the aftershocks. People in PECHS, Shah Faisal Colony, Liaquatabad, and Buffer Zone also experienced the tremors, with Liaquatabad residents describing the sensation as particularly intense.
