KARACHI: Karachi experienced another mild earthquake on Monday morning, causing widespread panic among residents in several neighbourhoods.
According to locals in the Landhi and Korangi areas, the tremors were felt around 10:25 AM, prompting people in Malir, Landhi, and Quaidabad to rush out of their homes in fear.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of concern and spiritual reflection, as many residents gathered outdoors and recited Kalma Tayyaba following the quake. The incident has once again heightened public anxiety about Karachi’s increasing vulnerability to seismic activity.
The Seismological Center confirmed that the epicenter of the quake was near Quaidabad, with a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or property damage. However, experts have expressed concern over the recurring tremors and the city’s level of preparedness for potentially stronger quakes.
This latest incident follows a similar earthquake that struck Karachi just a day earlier. On Sunday at 5:33 PM and again early Monday at 1:06 AM, residents felt tremors from a 3.6-magnitude quake with the same epicenter near Quaidabad. The recent uptick in seismic activity has drawn attention from both citizens and authorities.
