ECC approves Rs 42 billion for ECP for holding of general elections

Islamabad: The practical preparation for holding of the general elections has started as Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on albeit demand has approved a whopping sum of Rs 20 billion.

The ECC meeting was held in the chair of Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar wherein it was decided that initially the ECC will be provided with Rs 10 billion for the general election preparations.

Federal cabinet will give final approval of provision of funds to the ECP.

Earlier, in the day the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the government to provide a whopping sum of Rs 42 billion for holding of general elections in the country.

Following the insistence of the ECP the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had called Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting.

An amount of Rs 200 million can be approved for the secretariat of Special Investment Facilitation Council ( SIFC).

It is pertinent to inform that coalition government has agreed to dissolve assembly on August 8. After which a period of three months will be given for the caretaker government.

After conclusion of three-months the general elections will be held across the country.
