ECP announces successful candidates for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa senate seats

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the winners of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senate elections held on July 21, notifying a total of 11 successful candidates.

According to the ECP, four candidates from PTI secured general seats: Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Noorul Haq Qadri, and Mirza Afridi. The joint opposition also won three general seats, with Niaz Ahmed (PML-N), Ataul Haq Darvesh (JUI), and Talha Mahmood (PPP) emerging victorious.

For the reserved seats for women, PTI’s Rubina Naz and PPP’s Rubina Khalid were declared elected. Additionally, PTI’s Azam Swati and JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan won the two technocrat seats from the province.

The election was conducted under an understanding between PTI and opposition parties to prevent a contentious contest, resulting in PTI securing six seats and the opposition securing five out of the 11 seats.
