Islamabad: The Election Commission Of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the federal government to provide funds of more than Rs 18 billion for holding local body elections in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Islamabad.
The summary sent to the cabinet division after the approval of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Khan, reads that the funds are needed to hold local body elections in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and capital Islamabad.
It is mention in summary that funds will be used to hold the local bodies elections and a review on voter lists.
The ECP in its summary said that the ministry of finance has given its nod for provision of funds and the finance ministry has asked ECC and the cabinet for the funds.
The ECP has needed a whopping Rs 18 billion, 36 caroor and 47 Lakhs while the ECP has needed immediate funds in the sensitivity of the elections.
