Islamabad: National Assembly’s standing committee on finance on Thursday unanimously rejected finance bill seeking issuance of funds for holding elections in provincial assembly of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
The committee said that funds can’t be provided to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for holding elections in Punjab and KP on the orders of the Supreme Court.
“Economic situation in the country are in severe pressure.” in this situation the funds can’t be provided to the ECP.
It is pertinent to mention here that Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar had presented the bill in the NA after which the speaker NA Raja Pervez Ashraf had sent the bill to the committee.
The government had presented the bill in the NA following the orders of the SC regarding holding of elections in KP and Punjab.
