Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday challenged the Peshawar High Court (PHC) verdict of Wednesday in which the ECP judgement on the PTI intra-party elections and ballot was declared null and void.
The ECP has filed petition in the SC over the PHC verdict regarding alloting of bat symbol to the PTI.
The SC has allotted diary number to the ECP appeal.
Peshawar High Court on Wednesday restored Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) election symbol bat while annulling the ECP verdict in the intra party elections.
The PHC divisional bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Aijaz Anwar pronounced reserved verdict in the PTI intra party election and election symbol case.
The court accepted the PTI petition while the court also suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict in this regard.
The PHC has ordered the ECP to allot bat symbol to the PTI.
In its verdict the court said that the PTI is the political party and it needs an election symbol adding that the ECP verdict in the case was not right.
The PHC also ordered the ECP to issue the PTI a party certificate.
