Islamabad (June 09, 2018): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided not to post the asset details and nomination forms of politicians on its website.

ECP has adopted stance that parliamentarians had not provided them enough time for legislation process of placing the details on the website.

In the last elections, nomination forms were made public. No law exists for this purpose but the ECP used its constitutional right.Experts have warned that concealing the details from the public will influence the transparency of electoral process.

Meanwhile, Election Commission had extended the last date for filing nomination papers till Monday next to facilitate all aspiring candidates of general elections.

In a statement today, the commission said nomination papers for reserved seats for women and non-Muslims can also be filed till Monday.

It said priority lists of candidates for reserved seats should also be submitted until Monday.The ECP has also extended the submission of the list for women and minorities seats. The political parties can now submit the lists for provincial assemblies till June 11 to concern election commission offices while lists for National Assembly can be submitted in election commission office Islamabad.

ECP has set the July 5 last date for the submission of postal ballots. The government employees far from their respective areas can cast their votes through postal ballot in election 2018.
