ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday dismissed accusations of interference in the Haripur by-election, affirming that attempts to exert pressure on the Commission would be futile.
Responding to claims that Form 47 was issued from Islamabad, the ECP clarified that the document was both prepared and issued by the designated Returning Officer for NA-18 Haripur.
The Commission explained that it received Form 47 at 3:16 am on November 24, with the District Returning Officer providing the same results shortly after at 3:22 am. The form was then uploaded to the ECP’s official website at 4:28 am.
Furthermore, the ECP confirmed that Forms 48 and 49 were submitted within the designated timeframe and that Form 47 is accessible online, bearing the signature of the Returning Officer.
The ECP emphasized that it remains the legitimate authority to address any grievances related to election outcomes and warned against spreading unfounded and misleading propaganda, stating that appropriate action would be taken against violators.
