ECP Extends Date For Registration of Votes By April 30

Islamabad (April 24, 2018): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has extended the date for registration of votes in the electoral lists by April 30.

According to the ECP, the date has been extended keeping in view the requests received from different segments of the society.

The spokesperson of the ECP has asked the people to visit the nearby display centers or the District Election Commission office to get their votes registered or have their details corrected.

Earlier, today was the last day to register to vote for the upcoming elections.

Moreover, the people have the facility to download forms from ECP website or acquire them from the display centres and the District Election Commission offices.The current Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government will step down on May 31, after which a caretaker setup will take over.

The general elections are expected to be held at the end of July.

Check Registration
According to the ECP, citizens can check their voter registration two ways.

SMS
The ECP in collaboration with NADRA has provided an SMS service for eligible voters to check their registration status. Eligible voters can send a text message with their CNIC number to 8300. They will then receive an automated response with the name of the electoral area, block code and serial number.Visiting District Election Commissioner’s office
Registered voters can visit their respective District Election Commissioner’s office, where the final electoral roll is available. The address or contact information for these offices across the four provinces can be found on the links below.

Register to vote
If you are 18 years of age or older who can register by following the steps listed below.

An application along with a copy of CNIC needs to be submitted to the District Election Commissioner/Registration Office/Assistant Registration Office of the district where you want to get your name enrolled.The form is available online at the ECP website or can be obtained free of cost from the office of the District Election Commissioner / Registration Officer OR Assistant Registration Officer/Display Centre In charge.

Visit a display centre
The ECP has set up 14,487 display centres across the country.

These centres have been established for registration and correction of details or removal of names from the voter lists. A total of 7,928 centres have been set up in Punjab; 2,585 in Sindh; 2,545 in KP; and 1,429 in Balochistan.

You can submit your application along with a CNIC copy to the nearest display centre or the district election commissioner, registration officer, or the assistant registration officer of the district where you want to get your name enrolled.You will have to fill the prescribed Form 15 — available online at the ECP website — for enrolment of your vote.

It can also be obtained free of cost from the office of the district election commissioner, the registration officer or assistant registration officer. Don’t forget to keep your original CNIC with you when you return to the display centre for submission of the filled form.

Eligibility
A person shall be entitled to be enrolled as a voter in an electoral area if he/she

(a) is a citizen of Pakistan;

(b) is not less than eighteen years of age;(c) possesses a National Identity Card issued by the National Database and Registration Authority at any time till the last day fixed for inviting claims, objections and applications for preparation, revision or correction of electoral rolls;

(d) is not declared by a competent court to be of unsound mind; and

(e) is or is deemed under section 27 to be resident in the electoral area.
